Tiffany & Co - For Someone Extraordinary

I was flipping through some new magazines last night (as you do when you're procrastinating your studies) and I came across some images from the Tiffany & Co holiday campaign for 2010, titled For Someone Extraordinary.

There's no denying that the jewellery is overpriced and you're just paying for the blue box (or so my husband has done a good job convincing me), but the amazing images never cease to incite seething envy of idyllic holiday seasons and gift giving in me.  There's just something about that little blue box...  My family adheres to gift giving as we all love giving and receiving gifts and excitedly sit beside the tree and share the love.  Another Serbian tradition, due to the connotation of births and new beginnings with Christmas is to buy and wear a new outfit on Christmas day.

This coming Christmas (celebrated on 7 January - Wikipedia link if you want to know why) I'm spending the morning in Melbourne and flying home to Brisbane in the afternoon in time for dinner.. and then an extended and much needed stay... Can't wait.

I can't even tell you how much I love Anja & Zanotti shoes.  And the two of them together are perfection.

Nan Goldin for Scanlan & Theodore

Anyone who knows me knows how much I love Scanlan & Theodore.  So much so, that I wear at least an item of S&T 6 out of 7 days a week!

My love affair began about 6 years ago while I was working as a temp data entry clerk during the summer break at university.  The job was boring. I was paid for 8 hours a day, but my job required me to work about 45 minutes.  It's true.  Boring job meant hours surfing on the internet, and usually buying a lot of things.  I have that job to thank for my first pair of Chloe heels from NAP and my first Marc Jacobs dress... and my long and expensive relationship with S&T.

Gary Theodore, the man behind the label and the whole S&T team are immensely private.  No interviews, no parades, no advertising.  Just private shows for their most valued customers and staff at the beginning of a new season.  I still wear every single of my S&T items.  They don't go out of style.  They're seasons and seasons ahead most of the time.  I'm more than happy to pay a little more, especially since 90% of the clothing is made in Australia. And they know a thing or two about amazing service and flexibility.

“Our designs exist to reflect the integrity of a woman and resonate her unique individualism” says Gary Theodore.  Totally out of the box to use a 'messy' Erin Wasson for their spring/summer lookbook.

“We thought it time to communicate how we were feeling, and looking at Nan’s work we felt we had similar values, being uncompromising, extremely considered and sometimes complex, yet having ideals of simplicity and honesty,” explains Gary. “When you look at Nan’s work, it’s simplistic at first glance but after a while the more you look the more you see, there’s a lot going on, emotionally.”

Hello Australia

You'd forgive people for thinking that in Australia, riding a kangaroo is a form of transport.  You'd forgive people for thinking that Sydney is the nation's capital.  You'd forgive them if they didn't know that we can go swimming at a beach, or skiing at the slopes all within a couple of hours of each other.

But if you were a major company launching in Australia, wouldn't you do your research and figure out which land mark belongs to which city?

People at Gap seem to think that Centrepoint Tower and the Opera House belong in Melbourne and that the Arts Centre spire belongs in Sydney.  And that you also ride the green tram in Sydney????  At least they got Melbourne's Luna Park in the right city though.  Ignorance is bloss.

Daria for Oroton

Oroton is an iconic Australian leather goods company (they call themselves luxury, but I can't say I agree) and for their spring/summer campaign they're using non other than the amazing Daria Werbowy.  And how much am I loving those Givenchy heels she's wearing!  (and to kick me while I'm down, I saw a pair half price in my size today - woe is me)
