And the winner is.... ME!?

This time last year I was wandering the streets of Paris.  As I've written a number of times, it was one place high on my bucket list that I wanted to tick off.  I worked pretty hard to make it work - somehow!   I didn't know at the time but my body was in the midst of being taken over by an autoimmune illness, perhaps the reason why I didn't see any of the magic city past 8pm.  Apart from late night cocktails at Opera Bar at Crillon Hotel.  In my experience, every stereotype of Paris was a myth - Paris was clean and beautiful, people were not uptight or snooty and if I made a little effort to speak French, they all made effort to speak English.  The high end stores were a delight - I encountered the loveliest sales assistants from Chanel to Hermes to Maje and everything in between.  And I still drool at the thought of the Raspberry Tart at Laduree.

You can read my posts from that trip HERE.

There were plenty of things left that I hadn't had a chance to see.  I never made it to Versailles and most of the museums went unvisited.

Yesterday, unlike most Melbournians, I headed to work, leaving my phone in my car by mistake.  When I finally got around check it late last night, I had a bunch of missed from a mobile number I didn't recognise and just as I picked it up the number rang again.

Rewind to last Saturday as B and I were enjoying breakfast and papers at our favourite cafe and I had sent my details, entering a competition thinking that surely nobody ever wins those things, let alone ME!?!?!

Well I got the shock of my life last night when the lovely Laura from the Melbourne French Festival - Paris to Provence called me to say I'D WON A TRIP TO FRANCE!

I have no idea how or when this will all take place (maybe for my next birthday???) and where do I want to go?  Paris?  A farmhouse or chateaux?  Maybe I'll offer my house for a house swap and hope there's somebody that wants to spend time in Melbourne whilst I'm in France.  MIND IS BLOWN!

Either way, I am so fortunate and so privileged to have won.  Maybe my luck will continue today with a win at the races (Mount Athos?) and the $100mil lotto draw.. (I do promise to share and be generous!)

WOW!

Diesel Island: 3x $100 voucher giveaway

Two things have been playing on my mind this week.  The carbon tax and it's ability to help stall climate change and the fact that the spring/summer fashions are starting to pop up.  I haven't even got my winter wardrobe sorted.  Time flies.  I'm envisaging myself wearing a lot of denim and orange this summer.  I just need a tan.

To celebrate the launch of the Diesel spring/summer collection I have the pleasure of giving away 3 x $100 vouchers for an Australian store of the winners choosing.  You lucky readers you!

Diesel is fed up and is taking over an island for the summer.  Why not join them?

To be in the running to score one of these vouchers all you have to do is complete the following sentence as a blog comment:

"If I was spending the summer at Diesel Island, I wouldn't be caught dead there without __________".

The competition is only open to Australian readers and closes next Sunday 31 July 2011 at 23:59 AEST.

Vouchers will be awarded for the most creative entry, a random number generator entry and to the person who puts in the biggest effort and shares the competition with others via their blog/facebook/twitter - be creative!

If you do share the details of the competition around leave me a separate comment.

If you wish to Tweet about it, be sure to @ my twitter name - @milijana_ and use the hashtag #dieselisland

Good luck!!

June giveaway

Pardon my disappearance from the face of the planet over the past 10 days.  What with a trip to visit parents, the busiest time of the year at work plus biased news reports to fight, ambassadors to meet and life which all means I haven't been home before 10.30pm and to bed before 1am in days and days and days.

Tomorrow night I'm giddy with excitement to be attending the opening of Melbourne's first Zara store and shopping before the crowds.  I'll blog as soon as I get home, I promise.

I received two copies of my US Vogue this month and have some goodies left over from Fashion Week so I thought I'd run a giveaway.

Open to everyone around the world (however I doubt I'll be able to send the hairspray overseas).

Closes 30 June at 11:59PM AEST.

Additional entries for blogging or tweeting about the contest - just make sure you leave an additional comment.

To be in the draw just leave a comment, no need to be creative!

US Vogue - June 2011 issue
Loreal - Glam Shine Lipgloss in 208 Unlimited Fuchsia
Loreal Elvive - Colour Protect Reflecting Serum
Loreal Elnett Satin - Hair spray
Loreal - Telescopic Explosion Mascara in Black

Nearly at 100 followers...giveaway!

It's been a fun year of (regular) blogging and without the readership, comments and followers and the interaction and friendships I've formed with so many people none of this would be possible!  Thank you all so much!

To celebrate almost reaching 100 followers (and the fact that I get 3,000+ unique readers a month), thanks to our friends at Harper's Bazaar Australia I am giving away a copy of their "Gold Class" shopping book (RRP @19.95) as well as a copy of the November issue of the magazine, which will feature the winner and the runner up of Australia's Next Top Model which was recently, and contravercially announced.

You can choose the cover you like!

Hopefully by the time the give away winner is announced I will be at 100+ followers! YAY

Now the simple rules are as follows to be in the running for the prize

- leave a comment on this post and be a follower via google or bloglovin'
- tweet and/or blog about the competition and leave a comment letting me know you did so for an additional entry

Enties will be open all month, closing October 31 at 12:59 AEST.  Open to everyone around the world!

Random number generator has picked SEMI EXPAT to be the winner of the US Vogue giveaway.

Yes it's taken me a while to announce the winner, but that's because I hadn't received the prize! (or so I thought, but all along it was hiding out at the post office, I even went as far as accusing them of stealing my mail HAHAH oooops!)

Congrats to SE! xo

Give away time!

My 200th post happened sometime last week, but my RSI prevented me from doing much on the computer.

Thanks to some lovely contacts, I am giving away a copy of The Accidental Renovator by Barbara Biggs...

I also have a heap of girly goodies to go with it... make up, fragrance samples, skincare, magazines!

The Accidental Renovator: A Paris Story" :
When Barbara Biggs, incorrigible writer, romantic and renovator, was in Paris just after the heat wave in 2003, she didn’t speak French and didn’t know anyone there. Instead of looking at art galleries and museums, she likes to look at real estate.

When she saw a cute little apartment overlooking a park, she asked the agent if he’d accept an offer. He said no. So, just for fun, she put in a ridiculous offer to enhance her buyer authenticity. She was thrown into chaos the next day when the agent rang to say it was hers.

Four months later, when settlement happened, she’d discovered that French builders are unreliable. She thought she’d be clever and bypass that problem by taking an Australian builder with her to renovate. Only trouble was, it was her next door neighbour who she’d only known three weeks and dated twice.
When they arrived in Paris a week later, neither spoke French, Bruce had no tools, no car and didn’t know where to buy anything. Within three days, they couldn’t stand each other.

To survive, Barbara had to meet people. She joined the Lazy Pigs Millionaire’s Club and met a swag of fascinating and eccentric Parisians.

This story is about the underbelly of Paris social life with her nightmare renovation as a backdrop.
A funny and engaging story. Armchair tourism at it’s best.

I also have a heap of girly goodies to go with it... make up, fragrance samples, skincare, magazines!

Rules are simple:

1 entry for leaving a comment on this post, a bonus entry for being a follower.  Happy to ship anywhere in the world.

Don't be shy!  Good luck.

LMFF goody bag day 1... with a give away

As per my previous post LMFF got off to a great start.

But of course what's a fashion show without a goody bag, right?

L'oreal was generous and gifted a lovely bronze make up bag (the one I received in 2008 is on it's last legs, so perfect timing), along with some discount vouchers, a Collagen Filler lip treatment, Extra Volume Collagene mascara and a Glam Shine Volumizer gloss in the "Plum Addiction" colour.

The gloss is a purple glossy colour which does not suit my skintone, SO instead of it sitting in the bottom of my endless make up pit, I may as well give it away.

As usual

And the winner is... SILVERBEIGE!

I've just returned from the most wonderful trip to New Zealand, but I am so behind at work, with university work, fashion week and blogging!  I have an essay due on Friday so everything else will have to wait :(

I can't wait to write about the wonderful experienced I had over in NZ, it was my first time and I was really pleasantly surprised.

Now, first thing is first.  I know I promised to announce the winner on March 1, but the trip came up after the promise was made, so here I am.

I wrote the numbers 1 to 10 on little slips of paper (1 being the first comment on that post, 10 being the last) and number 9 came up, so, congratulations silverbeige.
