Best dressed?

Whilst catching up on world news post exams, I learnt that Anna Wintour chose Blake Lively as the best dressed woman in 2010.

Really?

Over the last 18 or so months, Blake has graced 2 of Anna's Vogue covers, so are we really surprised?  Blake has recently hired a personal trainer and debuted a new and thinner figure just last week.  It's apparently the first time she's ever exercised!

Is it really justified of Anna, possibly the most influential woman in fashion, to name a 23 year old as best dressed?  A 23 year old that looks amazing in everything and who has designers throwing clothes (and shoes) at her straight off the runway?

There's no denying that I love just about everything she wears, but I do wonder how much input she has into what she wears and what effort she personally puts in?  Or is that irrelevant when choosing best dressed?  Is it then just about who looks the best wearing outfits straight off the runway, rather than who has great style and is in the fashion forefront with how they wear the current trends (or how they go about avoiding trends!)

What do you think?

  1. I love Blake Lively and agree that she looks good in everything!

I read an interview with her recently where she said she is really into fashion and chooses everything she wears without the help of a stylist.

I find it very hard to believe that she doesn't have a stylist. She has changed her look so much in the past few years, that she has to have some help. The only person I know who doesn't use a stylist at all, is Diane Kruger.

  3. Agree with your take, She Wore It Well.

I do like Blake's look too.

So excited that she's branching out into some pretty serious and different acting roles.

  4. I agree! I don't think anyone should qualify for best dressed on the basis of their figure. I think the line about no stylist is a lie.

You don't need to have one on hand to be 'styled' by someone; if someone sends you clothes for free as a complete outfit, and you wear it in entirety, isn't that styling?

I love what she wears - I do.

But, I always thought 'style' was the way you wear something, the way you make it your own. Like, it was long when I got it, and now it's short - not the best example, but I am sure you get my drift.
