Travelling with a baby is different. Flights are best to depart at nap time.  A mountain of "just in case" stuff has to make the trip too.  However with a lot of planning and good organisation it's manageable.  

I think of this outfit as my travel uniform.  Jewellery tends to beep through security so I don't wear any. A huge scarf is a must; as an accessory, for extra warmth, as feeding cover, pillow etc.  Clothes are loose, long and stretchy - work for comfort and warmth, yet able to be removed if it gets too warm.

Summer party looks

I am honestly banging my head against the wall in regards to my summer wardrobe.  I have two work Christmas parties. A myriad of family Christmas events.  A concert.  Two weddings.  And a baptismn.  On top of a two week holiday.  One thing is for sure, well two.  Fake tan will play a major part and I will shop my wardrobe as much as possible.  Well, what remains that I didn't get rid of throughout the year.

On Tuesday I am going to a concert with my girlfriends.  I'll be honest and admit that I am not a concert goer.  I'm not one for ringing ears and crowds, but they somehow talked me into seeing JLo.

For the work Christmas party (and at least one of the weddings) I have tracked down the very last knee length version of this dress in a raspberry pink.  I'm thinking a nude peeptoe pump or wedge, more fake tan and nude/bronze make up and accessories.  

I am really into bright nails and lips this season.  A cheap and wonderful way to update any look over the party season. OPI Cajun Shrimp should be in every beauty cupboard.

Winter wonder

I am well and truly over winter and layers and jackets. Dreaming of sunshine and vitamin D in natural form. And new clothes.

Truly simple

Sometimes the best outfits are the simple, comfortable and warm ones.  I have long been a knit girl.  There's just nothing easier than cocooning myself on a toasty jumper that insulates the morning chill.  One that goes with everything and that doesn't require much thought and effort.  Except maybe a bright lip.

This weekend could not have come soon enough.  End of financial year has been as mental as usual.  My blackberry has been switched off and I am spending the weekend walking endlessly along the beach, drinking bottomless pots of tea and reading magazines.

I am (mostly) a city girl and love the metropolitan life.  But equally so I have an intense need for the countryside.  As much as I love my bucket of hair products and high heels I equally adore fresh air, muddy walks, trees and open space.  As a child I spent my summers with my grandparents in their village, chasing chickens and getting lost in the fields with our dog, Meri. 


Lucky then that within an hour drive out of Melbourne, there is plenty of open space and fresh air.

I've wanted just about everything that Isabel Marant has done, including the Zappy belt.  Then I thought about how I would wear it and a uniform of jeans, an oversized white shirt and sky high heels came to mind.  ASOS came to the rescue with something just about the same for a fraction of the price.

I can't wait for this week to be over.  It feels like everyone wants everything done yesterday and the pressure is immense.  I've found myself tucked into the corner working breathlessly-an open plan office isn't always the best idea.  Sometimes space and quiet to hear yourself think is a godsend when you feel like the world load is caving in.

My energy levels have slowly been returning, so I am getting out and about a little bit more, which will hopefully result in more blog posts.  It's been a slow process but it's truly wonderful to feel alive again.

I've really been loving the peplum trend that's been everywhere since the Oscars.  B was in Sydney so I had to do with the self timer (as my camera remote isn't working).  Since the outfit was so monochrome, I decided to dress it up a bit with Louboutins and the Zara sequin clutch (which I'm still not sick of).

The top is from Glassons.  I am seriously loving everything they're doing at the moment (move over ASOS) and the shipping is quick & free.  Items are far better quality than everything else in the price range, too.

You may remember that I blogged whilst contemplating the Louboutins and let me tell you, they have quickly become my favourite shoes.  They are incredibly comfortable (just make sure you go up half or a full size) and so easy to wear.  Now I know what the fuss is about.  I am already plotting my next pair.

 Meet Marvin. The Sydney label is the brain child of Melody Hasse and Liza Rowe both of whom have some serious design pedigree having working for the likes of Akira Isogawa and Hussy.

I've been lucky to play around with the S/S collection "The Spirit Will Rise" over the past week.  The collection has a hint of tribal in wonderful fabrics, playful prints and brass detailing.  The pieces translate from a breakfast, to the office with a blazer and a night out on the town.  And the best thing is, the price points are fantastic, with most pieces under the $200 mark and able to be mixed and matched with everything that's currently in your wardrobe. Instant love.

Last days of summer..

Mid week dinner

I'm headed out for dinner at Greek Deli on Chapel Street with my dearest friends. It's a tiny and hidden oldie but goody. After the cold weekend, yesterday was once hottest day of the year, and today it's windy and chilly again. Who can keep up?

Back and on the go

I'm back from holidays. Happy to be reunited with my pillow, my bottle of Pantene Aqualight and Parlux hair dryer. Not so happy to be headed back to work on Monday.

I'm running late for a meeting now. Last minute run through for our huge event tomorrow. Nerves have set in, for sure. Last minute calls from media seeking accreditation. Breathe.

Dressing for winter in summer...

I'd like to take this opportunity to voice my disgust at the weather.  Summer started 5 days ago and I've had the heater on every night. I packed away the sweaters and pulled out the summer dresses... prematurely it seems.

Yesterday I dragged myself into the city department stores for pick up some decorations for Christmas and try and get into the spirit.  I even put on Michael Buble's Christmas album tonight (which is incredible by the way).

What has everyone got planned for Christmas this year? Are you all more organised than me?

It's crazy to think that I'm nearing the 5 year anniversary of moving to Melbourne. So much has happened. My career took a new direction after I gave up what was seemingly my dream job and after a solid 4 years of hard work and many steep learning curves I have the promotion and the job that I often doubted was within my reach.  I have a few weeks break before the new chapter begins.  I thought I would cry as I said goodbye to the office that was my second home, but I didn't.  I had cried when I was updating my resume 5 weeks prior.

I have my draws to empty and years of paperwork to file (which is sitting in the back seat of the car).  New profiles to write.  New networks to build.  A huge exhibit I'm working on for the Australian Open.  And lots of spring cleaning to do. (I spent most of the morning degreasing and polishing the oven and it's looking damn fine).

Here's to new beginnings, including some warm weather (wishful thinking as it's November and I still have the heater on!!!)

These photos were snapped last weekend on a rare warm and sunny day at Hampton Beach.  It's odd though isn't it.  When I lived in St Kilda I drove to the beach in Brighton and now that I live in Brighton I drive to the beach in Hampton.  The way I'm going I'll be living in Sorrento in 20 years (one can only hope!!)

Suitcase Stuffing

I'm trying to piece together some looks for the trip.  Things that will translate between mild autumn weather in one city and winter temperatures in the other. 3 pairs of shoes at the very most. Enough room in the suitcase to bring back LOTS of art books. One rule I always follow is taking only the things I love.  If I think it's perfect for a destination, yet I haven't worn it for 18 months, chances are it will sit in my suitcase at the destination too. A wardrobe (or 2 wardrobes) of things and nothing feels right.  Here's what I'm feeling but struggling to execute....
