Gift time

A very dear work colleague has just returned from a 3 week trip to NY, LA & LV.  He was kind enough to come bearing a lovely gift also.  And as you know from my "what's in your bag post", I had virtually finished my other bottle!

YAY, THANKS :)

Are you on the list?

Are you attending The Outnet's first birthday celebrations?  Depending on what time it launches, I think I maybe in Canberra...

Brightening up a Monday morning...

... with a pretty package landing on the desk!

The ring is gold plated too, so it hopefully won't stain my skin.

Beginning of a dangerous House of Harlow addiction...

Masterpieces from Paris

As I had written previously I've had a huge desire to go to the Masterpieces exhibit in Canberra, so I'm going!  Booked a day trip to Canberra over the exhibit's closing weekend.

The Age (Melbourne) Magazine

"Like Melbourne, theage(melbourne)magazine is stylish, vibrant and intelligent.

theage(melbourne)magazine is a showcase and a resource for everything Melbourne people love about their city. It’s about the issues that affect them, where they shop, what they wear, the food and wine they love, the places they go, the entertainment they enjoy and the people that make it happen.

Offering a striking combination of strong editorial and bold design, drawing on the writing and photographic talents of The Age and Melbourne’s best contributors, theage(melbourne)magazine is unlike any other publication in the Melbourne market."

The Magazine, as I like to call it comes out on the last Friday of each month as a supplement to The Age - the newspaper, as opposed to the Herald Sun - the gossippaper.  Despite the fact that it's a tiny bit pompous I thoroughly enjoy the content.  The contributors are all very well respected writers and photographers who review the very best of Melbourne and profile prominent Melbournians.

The April issue features:

  • Top 5 juice bars in Melbourne.  I definitely will check out Wholefoods Food Store - 320 Bay Street, Brighton.  Fresh sandwich and juice for $10... and a wheatgrass or goji shot for $3!
  • Musicals galore in Melbourne this year - Cats, Fame, The Man in Black, Peace Train, Mamma Mia!, Calendar Girls, Mary Poppins, West Side Story & Hairspray...
  • The search for the best reusable coffee cup
  • What's happening in April in Melbourne... St Kilda Vegie Market, the end of daylight savings, world record breaking pillow fight attempt, opening of Thespis opera, German film festival, ANZAC Day...Comedy Festival...
  • A great article on the talented Robin Boyd (architect)
  • 10 cheap feasts for under $20
  • A review of Movida Aqui (highly recommended)
  • A haircare special
  • And the usual mix of film and music reviews

Love

The mornings are starting to get chilly, so finally my mind is turning to the winter wardrobe.  As I'm chained to a desk, my outlet is my Saturday wardrobe, when I go out for breakfast, wander through the park/museum/city/suburban shopping strips/markets... I write, take photos.. namely, do things for me.

I love love love LOVE this look, perfect for all of the above.

Why do I love it?

  • I adore the hair colour
  • I adore the felt hat - I hate washing my hair on Saturday mornings as I like to be out the door ASAP making the most of my day, so the hat hides bad hair days.  A beret does the job too.
  • As I wear pretty tops under the corporate garb, I like to throw on a plain tee on the weekend and be off and away
  • I'm always cold, so I need a coat and this one is camel! Love
  • Boots... flat... over the knee... what's not to love?
I'm also loving this scarf from Witchery...

I'm so looking forward to this coming Saturday.  The sun is still shining and B is spending the day watching F1 cars (zzzz), so I'm going to wander to my favourite shops in the morning and see friends in the afternoon.

House of Harlow Peacock Ring

How long should an item sit in your shopping bag before you complete the transaction?  Is one week sufficient :)

Keep me away from the bangle though...

Brisbane Culinary Adventures

Hello all!

Over the weekend I made a quick dash to Brisbane to spend some time with my parents.  I haven't seen them since January and was missing them a lot.  Even though we've lived apart for 3 years, it has not become any easier.

One thing we always do, is eat out when we're together!

We decided to go to Il Posto in Paddington for some yummy Italian.  The decore and menu are simple, the service always excellent and the food YUMMY!

I had the Duck Pasta a.k.a. pappardelle all’ anatra - duck & porcini mushroom ragu, fresh parsley, thyme...

And even though we always intend to have dessert with dinner, we make a bee line for Freestyle Tout.  Without a doubt the best and most generous desserts you will EVER have for under $15!  I'd say it's a dessert platter!  And the coffee is very good too - this coming from a picky coffee drinker.

B and I are going up together for the long weekend next month, so lots of food again with mum, dad and lil bro (who only comes with us when B is in town, as he's "too cool" read: an 18 year old boy.

My creme brulee in the centre, served with an amazing vanilla ice cream and berry compote and a raspberry sorbet.

And that's mum's apple and raspberry crumble, vanilla custard, berry compote and more vanilla icecream.

L'oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival 2010 -Runway 5 presented by Cosmopolitan

At this stage the feet with riddled with blisters, it was getting more difficult to get out of bed in the morning and virtually impossible to put together a decent outfit.  Attending fashion shows is a lot more difficult than one may think.

Big thank you to the girls from Ann Morrison PR for accommodating me there.  I'll be a lot more prepared in the future!

I'm sorry for not updating sooner or attending any further shows.  Uni, work and a trip interstate prevented it :(
